Needle is CCPA/CPRA Ready

Last updated: August 10, 2026

What is CCPA/CPRA?

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) are California state laws that provide California residents with rights over their personal information. CCPA went into effect on January 1, 2020, and CPRA (which amends and expands CCPA) went into effect on January 1, 2023. These laws apply to businesses that collect personal information of California residents.

Territorial Scope: CCPA/CPRA applies to Needle because we process personal information of California residents. We are fully committed to CCPA/CPRA compliance.

What are Your CCPA/CPRA Rights?

As a California resident, you have the following rights under CCPA/CPRA:

  • Right to Know: Know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to Opt-Out: Opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights
  • Right to Correct: Correct inaccurate personal information (CPRA)
  • Right to Limit Use: Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (CPRA)

Sale of Personal Information

We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

Needle does not sell your personal information. We do not engage in the sale of personal information as defined under CCPA/CPRA.

We use third-party service providers (such as analytics services) to help us operate our service. These service providers only receive metadata (not personal information) and only with your explicit consent. This does not constitute a "sale" of personal information under CCPA/CPRA.

What We Track: We only track metadata (length, word count, format indicators) - NO actual content (queries, business names, competitor names, etc.). We track behavioral patterns (WHAT you do) not content (WHAT you search).

Automated decision-making technology (ADMT)

We use automated scoring of publicly available posts (for example, buying-intent and relevance scores) to rank the results you see. These scores are analytical signals for your own decision-making - they do not make legal, credit, employment, or similarly significant decisions about you, and no consumer is ever evaluated on them for access to the service. Under the CPRA regulations (effective January 1, 2026) you may request information about this processing and may opt out by emailing support@useneedle.net.

Shine the Light (California Civil Code §1798.83)

California residents may request a list of third parties to whom we have disclosed personal information for their own direct-marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing; if you still wish to make such a request, email support@useneedle.net.
