Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about this tool.

How many emails do I get?
The free tool returns up to 5 email addresses per domain. Sign up for Needle to unlock larger monthly lookup limits and find contacts from discovered competitors in the product.
What does “personal” vs “generic” mean?
Personal emails belong to a person (e.g. john@company.com). Generic emails are role-based (e.g. contact@company.com).
What is the confidence score?
It’s an estimate of how likely the email is correct, based on sources and verification. Higher is better.
Can I find someone’s email from their LinkedIn profile?
Not directly - LinkedIn only shows an email to people the member allows. Instead, take the company website from their LinkedIn company page, look it up here to see the company’s email pattern (for example first.last@), build the address from their name, and check it with the email validator before sending.

Good to know

Context and tips to get more out of this tool.

Find emails before cold outreach

Generic inboxes like info@ rarely convert. This tool returns up to five addresses per domain with confidence scores so you can prioritize personal contacts over catch-alls before you import a list or send a one-off note.

How finding emails by domain works

Enter a company domain like acme.com. We look it up in an email data provider that collects addresses published on the public web, such as team pages, press releases, and docs. Each result shows whether it is personal or generic, plus a confidence score: the provider's estimate that the address is correct. Treat low scores as guesses to verify.

Limits worth knowing

Small or new companies often return few or no results, because little about them is published yet. A high confidence score is not a delivery guarantee: people leave, and some mail servers accept every address. Before you send, run the address through the email validator. Look at the format the found addresses share (first.last@, first@) - it is often the fastest way to work out the address of someone who is not listed.

Have a LinkedIn profile instead of a domain?

LinkedIn does not show a member's email unless they choose to share it, and scraping it breaks LinkedIn's terms. Take the company website from their LinkedIn company page, look up that domain here, apply the address format the results share to the person's name, then verify it with the email validator. Our LinkedIn email guide walks through the full process.

Pair with community research first

Email finding works best after you know the company is a fit. Use Needle Search to find threads where they complain about a problem you solve, then look up the right person to continue the conversation.

Now find the threads where they complain

You have the contact list. Use intent-ranked search to find the exact conversations where those companies discuss the problem you solve - then reach out with context.
