Short answer: pick Brand24 if you want brand monitoring with good sentiment and reach analytics, a published price, and no sales call. Pick Mention if you are a larger team that wants 75+ review sites in the same feed plus white-label reports and an account manager, and you are fine with demo-based pricing. As of October 2026, Brand24 starts at $199/month billed yearly, while Mention sells a single Company plan, priced on a demo and billed yearly. Mention has also deprecated its own publishing and reply features in favour of Agorapulse.
If you are not sure you need either, and your real goal is finding customers rather than tracking your brand, see the section on where Needle fits at the end. If you want a wider list of options, see our Brand24 alternatives roundup.
Pricing and plans checked on each vendor's site in October 2026. Both vendors change plans often, so confirm before you buy.

Mention (from mention.com/en/pricing and its plans help article, October 2026): the pricing page shows one Company plan with no price, behind a "Get a demo" button. The help center says the Company plan is billed yearly only and that Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus are legacy plans. Historical data and API access are paid add-ons. If you see Mention quoted at $41 or $49 a month on review sites, that is the old pricing.
The practical gap: Brand24 lets you compare plans and start on your own; Mention needs a sales conversation before you know the price. Mention's extra value is mostly review-site coverage and account management, not publishing, which it now hands off to Agorapulse.
Who should pick which
Choose Brand24 if:
- You need to know who is talking about your brand, and whether the tone is positive or negative, without paying for a full social media suite.
- A small number of keywords (3 to 12) covers your brand, product, and a couple of competitors.
- Reach and sentiment reports for a founder, investor update, or marketing lead are the main output.
- You can live with 12-hour updates on the entry plan, or you can budget for Pro to get real time.
Choose Mention if:
- Review sites matter to you; Mention lists 75+ review sites, including Google, Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor, in its coverage.
- You want white-label reports, a dedicated account manager, and custom onboarding.
- You are an agency or an established brand where demo-based pricing and a yearly contract are normal.
- If you also need publishing, Mention itself now recommends Agorapulse for that part.
Choose neither if:
- You are an early-stage team mostly trying to find buyers. Brand trackers measure conversation about your name, which is small when you are new. See the next section.
- You only need a handful of free keyword alerts on Reddit and Hacker News. F5Bot does that at no cost.
Mention vs Brand24 for small budgets
If $199/month is already a stretch, look at Awario, which publishes plans from $29/month billed yearly with a free trial, or at the cheaper tools in our Brand24 alternatives roundup. Mention no longer has a low-cost entry tier for new customers.
Where Needle fits
Needle is not a brand monitoring tool, so it is not a third option in this comparison so much as a different job. Brand24 and Mention answer "what are people saying about us?" Needle answers "who is asking for a tool like ours right now?": one search across Reddit, Hacker News, Stack Overflow, GitHub, and other communities (up to 13, depending on plan), with each thread ranked by buying intent.
Some teams use both: a brand tracker for reputation, and Needle for weekly research and lead discovery. Needle has a 7-day free trial with no card, then paid plans from $15/month. For the direct comparisons, see Needle vs Brand24 and Needle vs Awario.
