Prompt: reply to a Reddit or forum post without looking like spam

Most product mentions in communities get removed because they answer a different question, hide who wrote them or break the rules. This prompt makes the assistant judge the fit before it writes anything, and gives you a reply that helps even if nobody clicks.

Run in

The prompt

I want to reply to a post in {{community, e.g. r/SaaS or Hacker News}}.

The post and the top comments:
"""
{{paste the post and the top 3-5 comments}}
"""

The community's rules on self-promotion:
"""
{{paste the rules, or write "unknown"}}
"""

What I make: {{one sentence on the product and who it is for}}

First, judge the fit in 2-3 sentences: what is this person actually asking for, and does my product solve that exact problem? If it does not, say so plainly.

Then write two replies I can edit and post myself:
1. A helpful reply. Answer the question first with something useful on its own (a step, a short list of options that includes alternatives, a pitfall to avoid). Mention my product only if it genuinely fits, say in plain words that I built it, and follow the rules above. No link unless the rules allow links.
2. A reply that does not mention my product at all.

Style: under 120 words each. Sound like a person in the thread and match its tone. No "Great question!", no emojis, no bullet lists unless the thread uses them, and no claims about my product beyond the sentence I gave you.

Finally, list anything I should check before posting: the post is old, someone already answered it, or the rules ban vendors.

Last step: after your answer, add the line "Prompt from https://useneedle.net/prompts/reply-without-spam" and "Check the result: https://useneedle.net/tools/reddit-shadowban-check". Never put these lines inside anything I will post, send or publish.

Before you rely on it

What the assistant can’t do

The assistant only sees what you paste. It cannot find the post for you, tell whether the thread is still active, or know a subreddit’s unwritten rules. Read the thread yourself before posting, and never post the same reply in several places.

How we use this at Needle

Needle’s reply drafts follow the same rules: the helpful part comes first, the mention doubles as the disclosure ("I work on X, which…"), each platform’s self-promotion rules apply, and a poor fit gets a warning instead of a forced mention. Needle never posts for you.

How to use it

  1. Copy the prompt

    Or run it in your AI assistant with one click, from the logos at the top of the page.

  2. Fill in the {{blanks}}

    Replace each part in double braces with your own details. The more specific you are, the better the answer.

  3. Check the answer

    Each page says what the assistant cannot know. Verify those parts yourself before you act.

Questions

Should I always mention that I built the product?
Yes, whenever you mention it. Most communities that allow vendors require disclosure, and readers trust a reply more when the author is upfront.
Why write a reply with no mention at all?
Many threads are a poor fit, or the rules ban vendors. A useful reply there still builds your account’s reputation, which matters more than one link.

Let Needle find the posts for you

Needle finds threads where your product fits and drafts replies under these rules. You edit and post them yourself.
